My new Seattle Teahouse

I am writing from Teahouse Kuan Yin, my new favorite Seattle hang out. One thing that I like about them is that the web site actually says: "We're proud to report that at least two books in current publication have been largely written here." AND the tea guy (at Townshend's they call them teatenders) actually left the shop and went out to buy more whole milk when I said I wanted some. So I didn't have to drink my tea with skim milk.

I like Victrola Coffee on 15th Ave, but this is much more my scene.

Christmas Part 1: Moos family

Well, I have a few pictures from a few different Christmas's. I have to share these ones from my cousin Jonah of his family, who are visiting friends in Chester, England (they live in Egypt). Jonah, Jessica, Makaylah and Zoe are looking awfully cute this year. Wish I could see them in person. Maybe next year... I was thinking about how it's possible to love someone you have never met (except to feel her kick from the womb), but think I could say I love this baby almost as much as I already love the rest of her family.

Happie's 88th Birthday

Today is Happie's 88th Birthday. She took the train down from Seattle this weekend and on Sunday I threw her a little birthday brunch. My lovely friends (and neighbors) Kate Power and Steve Einhorn blessed us with some beautiful music. It was a very sweet gathering.

Cute pictures of the week

I try to find things to post about besides cute kids, but it hasn't happened this week. Oh well. Here are some of Josie and River yesterday at my house (and in my car).

Willa lost her first tooth last week. The tooth fairy was very kind to her and even left fairy dust on her pillow, and a note.

These last three are of my Israeli cousin Shulli's daughter, Simcha. What a cutie. Good thing I just signed up for a Hebrew class at PCC.

Random pictures

Some assorted pictures I've been wanting to share. :)

River on Halloween in her angel costume.

River and Josie, under the table.

Willa and I baked some very chocolatey cookies last Monday. Yummy.

Me and Josie.

River.

This is what happens when Prema and Holly and I get together (can you see the laptops lined-up?)... Aka the Butting Writers.

Me, Kate Power, and Steve Einhorn at the Oregon Book Awards tonight.

And some books I am reading right now that I highly recommend: A Three Dog Life by Abigail Thomas and The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp.
